The 2025 Madden NFL 26 Season: The Seahawks Soar to Super Bowl 60

The Setup: Injury Heartbreaks & New Heavyweights

The Cover Athlete & NFC East:

Saquon Barkley's historic real-world season landed him cover honors for Madden NFL 26. In the simulation, he emphatically backed up the hype by helping guide the Philadelphia Eagles to an 11-6 record and the NFC East crown.

The Injury Bug Bites Hard:

The season was defined by catastrophic injuries to perennial contenders. The Kansas City Chiefs collapsed to a 6-11 record, a tragic spiral cemented when Patrick Mahomes suffered a devastating knee tear in Week 15. Meanwhile, the San Francisco 49ers endured a brutal wave of injuries to their core stars—including Nick Bosa, Fred Warner, Christian McCaffrey, and Brock Purdy—yet somehow displayed incredible resilience to finish 12-5.

The Rise of the 14-3 Titans:

The Denver Broncos locked down the AFC's #1 seed behind League MVP and Offensive Player of the Year Bo Nix. In the NFC, the Seattle Seahawks matched that 14-3 dominance. Meanwhile, Coach of the Year Mike Vrabel orchestrated a massive turnaround in his new home, guiding the New England Patriots to a 14-3 record and the AFC East title.

The Postseason: The 49ers' Grit and Seattle's Buzzsaw

The playoffs delivered thrilling snow games, dramatic upsets, and a historic head coaching dismissal:

Wild Card Action:

In the AFC, rookie QB Drake Maye and the #2 seed New England Patriots ran over Justin Herbert and the #7 seed Los Angeles Chargers 35-20 in a winter storm at Gillette Stadium, aided by a heavy rushing attack from Antonio Gibson. Next, Josh Allen and the #6 seed Buffalo Bills traveled to Jacksonville and secured a 38-25 road win over Trevor Lawrence and the #3 seed Jacksonville Jaguars. Finally, Lamar Jackson and the #4 seed Baltimore Ravens upset C.J. Stroud and the #5 seed Houston Texans 31-14.

In the NFC, Caleb Williams threw three touchdown passes to tight end Colston Loveland to lead the #2 seed Chicago Bears over the #7 seed Green Bay Packers at Soldier Field. Despite their battered roster, the #6 seed San Francisco 49ers showed incredible heart by upsetting the #3 seed Philadelphia Eagles 27-17 in Philadelphia. In the Monday Night game, Matthew Stafford and the #5 seed Los Angeles Rams traveled to Charlotte and knocked off Bryce Young and the #4 seed Carolina Panthers 38-23.

Divisional Shockwaves & A Coach's Dismissal:

In the AFC, the #2 seed New England Patriots continued to prove they were no fluke, knocking off the #4 seed Baltimore Ravens 31-17 at Gillette Stadium. Meanwhile, the #1 seed Denver Broncos—playing in their first home playoff game since 2016—capitalized on several Josh Allen turnovers to eliminate the #6 seed Buffalo Bills 45-28. (The devastating defeat prompted Buffalo to fire head coach Sean McDermott the following day).

In the NFC, the #1 seed Seattle Seahawks proved that home-field advantage matters, routing a #6 seed San Francisco 49ers squad that finally ran out of gas following their wave of injuries 42-10. Elsewhere, in a lake-effect snowstorm, Matthew Stafford and running back Kyren Williams led the #5 seed Los Angeles Rams over the #2 seed Chicago Bears 31-15.

Championship Sunday:

In the AFC Championship, the #2 seed New England Patriots traveled to Mile High Stadium and dominated the top-seeded Denver Broncos from start to finish. Drake Maye threw four touchdowns—two of them to Stefon Diggs—culminating in a 42-24 victory that sent New England to its first Super Bowl in seven years.

In the NFC Championship, the #1 seed Seattle Seahawks established themselves as the team to beat, dominating the Los Angeles Rams. Quarterback Sam Darnold threw touchdown passes to Jaxon Smith-Njigba and newly acquired receiver Cooper Kupp, while defensive end Coby Bryant intercepted Matthew Stafford in the second quarter. The dominant performance led to a 27-10 Seattle victory, advancing the Seahawks to their first Super Bowl in a decade.

Super Bowl 60: A Seattle Smash Job in Santa Clara

Super Bowl 60 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, set the stage for a clash between the NFC Champion Seattle Seahawks and the resurgent AFC Champion New England Patriots.

Instead of a dramatic showdown, the game quickly turned into an absolute demolition. The Seahawks overwhelmed the Patriots in all three phases of the game, cruising to a staggering 48-14 victory. Running back Kenneth Walker III put the offense on his back, rushing for three touchdowns and catching two more to capture Super Bowl MVP honors as Seattle confidently hoisted the Lombardi Trophy.
