In my previous blog, I talked about why closing down my Twitter/X account has been a benefit for my mental and overall health as I shuttered out the toxicity and negativity that goes on with it. Now, you might be wondering what my thoughts are on migrating over to BlueSky full time as a social media platform in addition to my existing platforms on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.
Well, truth be told, I actually still stand by my belief that migrating over to BlueSky from Twitter/X is still the best move that I have done. The truth of the matter is, that joining BlueSky was not just a mental health move but a safety move as well. In recent months, the number of fake accounts that involved dirty websites had increased and I had to wonder to myself, “is this really worth it?”
I get there are plenty of sick perverts out there that will try and prey on unsuspecting people and unfortunately, for many neurodivergents, there is a lack of understanding when it comes to who to trust and who not to trust. One might wonder why I would even continue to spread my message about neurodiversity while also constantly keeping these people at bay.
So far, on BlueSky, I get none of that which I am grateful for and I hope to keep it that way.

On BlueSky, I also feel that there is also I have the power to block anyone who gets in the way of my mission, something that I was denied to do on Twitter/X. If you are going to be on social media, you need to feel a sense of safety and security. Trust me, I’ve been blocked myself be a few people on social media, and I can see things from their point of view that they want to have a safe experience on social media. Fortunately, I have not had to block anyone on BlueSky but will have the option if it arises.

Speaking of which, joining BlueSky also gives me a self discipline to ensure that there are very few distractions and will only follow those who I trust and who is on the same level as me. In the early days of social media, I had a hard time distincting who to be connected with on social media and some of these people seemed to not have my best interests at heart.
Nowadays, I am very scrutinized when it comes who to connect with on social media. In recent years, I have come to accept that I don’t need to have a thousand friends in my life, just a few close friends who is on the same level as me and that is completely fine.
Once again, if you would like to follow me on BlueSky, I will post the link to my profile below. Feel free to come follow me if you so desire to:
