Self-Respect…
It is a virtue that we as a human being, neurodiverse/disabled or not, must adhere to if we are to get further in life. Having self-respect gives us an identity, a purpose, a destiny to achieve a goal that is out there for us to conquer.
…
But as a neurodiverse individual, I am seeing a lack of self-respect in the general public and the world around me. At my day job, I am seeing reflections in the lack of self-respect through various ways such as how people dress, how people act and how people function overall.
In fact, gone are the days where people had self-respect for one another. Society has really tanked and my one big concern is that neurodiverse/disabled individuals fail to see that having self-respect is essential to having an identity or reputation.
Throughout my life, there were moments that I didn’t have self-respect for myself as a neurodiverse/disabled individual. This can range from eating habits, to creating embarrassing situations for myself both socially and professionally. I would feel like a complete idiot whenever these things would happen by my own doing.
Still, I at least tried to learn from my moments where I didn’t have any self-respect at all. There are plenty of others who still have yet to learn from their own moments of non-self-respect or just flat out refuse to learn from their lack of self-respect moments.
…
But I just don’t see any self-respect right now and it seems like anyone who gets involved with anything that is radical or garbage immediately has no self-respect in their minds and bodies. Every day, I see this in both the media and real life, and it worries me that those who are taught to be pure in mind and self-respect are going to be easily corrupted.
…
Now as a self-advocate and public speaker who runs a small consulting business, I’m trying to have that self-respect every day in my life. Even if you don’t do what I do, having self-respect can mean the difference between success in life and failure. It doesn’t matter what you end up doing, as long as you have that self-respect.
…
Catch you all later!!
