As promised, here is Part 2 of this blog about how “Elvis” (2022) can serve as an example for what happens when people are taken advantage of. Now, being neurodiverse/disabled is never really the faults of those who are born with them.

We are who we are when we are born, but we are sometimes viewed as pawns in our overall way of life because of some crackpot who has no other alternative in their own life to solve a problem or find a way to survive. In most cases, individuals who are neurodiverse/disabled often get the most attention that can result in other around them to get jealous, longing for the same amount of attention.

Elvis Presley is a clearcut example of what happens when you become jealous and desperate. You see this person as a meal ticket or pawn to get what you want and this unfortunately is an example of why neurodiverse/disabled individuals are preyed upon.

For one thing, it’s really important to keep the “Colonel Tom Parker’s” out by maintaining a low profile. If your neurodiverse/disabled loved one is viewed as a meal ticket or pawn, it’s important to draw the line with the Colonel Tom Parker.

One thing that a lot of families struggle with is that the Colonel Tom Parker can be someone you are deeply closely to either in your immediate or extended family. There is also that someone who claims to be in your family but is nothing more than a fake. Remember, your neurodiverse/disabled loved one is more important than anything on the same level as a neurotypical loved one.

If the Colonel Tom Parker will not take no for an answer, then it might be time to get a higher power involved aka the Law. Sometimes, families will take the accused to court to obtain a restraining order against the Colonel Tom Parker.

But like I said in Part 1 of this blog, neurodiverse/disabled individuals struggle with standing up for themselves against Colonel Tom Parkers. We have that sort of naive nature that makes us blind to the truth and it’s up to us or our loved ones to learn what makes a Colonel Tom Parker a Colonel Tom Parker.

That’s why I strongly recommend seeing “Elvis” (2022) if you can because it has that message and lesson that goes beyond the story of the King of Rock and Roll.

Catch you all later!!
